METRO TV is Indonesia’s first news television station, having aired on November 25, 2000. Metro TV is a subsidiary of the MEDIA GROUP, owned by Surya Paloh, an Indonesian press figure who has pioneered the press business since founding the PRIORITAS daily newspaper.
Metro TV aims to disseminate news and information throughout Indonesia. In addition to news coverage, Metro TV also broadcasts a variety of informational programs on technological advancements, health, general knowledge, arts and culture, and other topics to educate the nation. Uniquely, Metro TV’s news programs are broadcast in three languages: Indonesian, English, and Mandarin.
